Ses mains les vents (Her hands the winds)

Ses mains les vents brings together photographs that, through shared gestures and visions, speak of what binds us to the land. With the intention of breaking with the passive and distant relationship we often have with the image of nature, this project attempts to get closer to a representation of presence and interaction, exploring the ways in which the relation between human and nature manifests itself in gestures, journeys, ways of knowing and being.

This project was made in collaboration with Gaspesian women who invited me into their worlds. It was developed during a residency with the Rencontres internationales de la photographie en Gaspésie, and exhibited at Pointe Taylor Park in New Richmond, Québec, in summer 2009.
