“The act of harvesting can be seen as a collaborative act rooted in memory. In her installation titled Petits fruits, Anne-Marie Proulx uses a relational approach to explore ideas of sharing and heritage as they relate to picking wild berries. The work includes audio excerpts of a conversation between Proulx and her friend Tanya Lalo Penashue, and operates in a dual linguistic space where French and Innu-aimun meet. This dialogue bears witness to an exchange between the two women, an intergenerational moment of sharing during which they celebrate their respective grandmothers and the teachings that were passed down to them. Lineage provides a sense of belonging to a place: whether it is revealing cloudberries or concealing blueberries, the land has a story to tell. Expanding concepts of care and friendship, Petits fruits is a delicate revelation of the intimate and the everyday, connecting more with disappearance than with discovery.” – Marie-Hélène Durocher, curator

Petits fruits is an artwork revisited from Les falaises se rapprochent, presented in 2018 at the Galerie des arts visuels of Université Laval.
